PRIVACY POLICY

GOLAZO is a free football quiz game at letsgolazo.com. This page explains exactly what we collect and why. If something here is unclear, contact us and we will answer.

What we collect

  • ▸Game progress. Your stars, cards, streaks and stats are stored in your browser's local storage on your own device. If you never give us an email, this data never leaves your device except as anonymous usage events described below.
  • ▸Your email address and player name, only if you choose to save your album. We use them to store a backup of your progress, to send you a link back to the game, and to email a six digit code when you restore your album on a new device.
  • ▸Anonymous usage events. Rounds finished, packs opened, pages completed, shares sent. Each event carries a random device identifier that we generate, not a name or an email.
  • ▸Traffic source. Where you arrived from, for example a WhatsApp link or an ad, so we can tell which channels bring players.
  • ▸Push notification subscription, only if you tap to allow notifications.

What we do not collect

  • ▸No passwords. GOLAZO has none, anywhere.
  • ▸No payment details. The game is free and there is nothing to buy.
  • ▸No precise location, no contacts, no photos, no microphone or camera access.
  • ▸No name or date of birth.

How your email is stored

Your saved progress is filed against a one way cryptographic hash of your email address rather than against the address itself, so the backup cannot be traced back to you from that record alone. Your address is stored separately so we can send you the sign in link and restore codes.

Who else receives data

  • ▸Supabase, which hosts the database holding progress backups and anonymous events.
  • ▸Vercel, which hosts the site and keeps standard server logs.
  • ▸Resend, which sends our emails.
  • ▸OneSignal, which delivers push notifications if you opted in.
  • ▸Meta, through the Meta pixel, which records that a visit, round or share happened so we can measure advertising. This uses cookies and similar identifiers.
  • ▸Google AdSense, which may serve advertising on this site and may use cookies to do so.

Advertising and cookies

This site is supported by advertising. The specifics required by Google's publisher policies are set out in full below rather than buried in a sentence.

  • ▸Third party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads on this site.
  • ▸Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and other sites on the internet.
  • ▸Google may personalise the ads you see based on your previous visits to this and other websites.
  • ▸You can opt out of personalised advertising at any time by visiting Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com.
  • ▸If you would rather opt out of third party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising more broadly, you can do so at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu in Europe, or optout.networkadvertising.org.
  • ▸Other advertising vendors that serve ads on this site may also use cookies, and where they do, the same opt out choices above apply to them.

You can also manage or block cookies entirely in your browser settings. Blocking them does not stop you playing GOLAZO: the game itself runs from your device's local storage and needs no advertising cookie to work.

We do not pass your email address, player name or album progress to any advertising vendor, and we do not use advertising cookies to build a profile of you ourselves.

Notifications

We never ask for notification permission when you arrive. The only prompt appears if you tap the button offering to tell you when your daily rounds refill. If you allow it we send at most one message a day. You can revoke permission in your browser settings at any time and we will stop.

Children

GOLAZO is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. If you believe a child has given us an email address, contact us and we will delete it.

Your choices

  • ▸Play without giving an email. Your first round needs nothing at all.
  • ▸Delete everything on your device by clearing your browser's site data for letsgolazo.com.
  • ▸Ask us to delete your saved album and email address. Email us and we will remove them.
  • ▸Turn off notifications in your browser settings.
  • ▸Opt out of personalised ads in Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com, or opt out of third party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices.

How long we keep it

Progress backups are kept while the game runs so you can restore your album. Restore codes expire after ten minutes. Anonymous usage events are kept as aggregate history. If you ask for deletion we remove your backup and your address.

Changes

If we change what we collect we will update this page and the date at the top.
