ABOUT GOLAZO

GOLAZO is a free football quiz with a card album bolted onto it. It exists because quizzes are fun for about four minutes and collections are fun for weeks, and nobody had put the two together in a way that respected either.

The idea

A quiz on its own has no memory. You answer, you get a score, you close the tab. Attach a collection and every correct answer buys progress toward something that persists: a page of nine cards, then another, then a finished album of 36. The quiz becomes the engine and the album becomes the reason.

The part we care most about is the loop back: cards you own make their own questions pay double. So the more football you have collected, the faster you earn. Knowledge is the upgrade path, which felt like the right way round for a game about knowing things.

Where the questions come from

Every question is drawn from a curated bank of thousands of football questions, filtered down to the ones that are unambiguous, that do not go stale, and that map onto a card in the album. Questions whose answers have changed over time get retired rather than quietly served. There is a longer write up of the standard we apply in the articles.

The artwork

All 36 cards are original illustrations made for this game. Players are drawn from behind, in plain kits, with no faces and no club crests. That is a deliberate choice rather than an artistic one: we did not want to trade on anyone's likeness or on any club's marks. Nothing here is licensed from anybody, and nothing pretends to be.

What it costs

Nothing. There is no purchase, no subscription, no premium currency and no way to convert money into stars. Stars come from correct answers only. The site may show advertising to cover hosting.

Who builds it

GOLAZO is made by a small independent team, not by a studio or a publisher. It is genuinely a work in progress: the daily limit, the head to head mode and the leaderboard all arrived after players told us what was missing, and the star economy was rebalanced after watching real players quit before they ever saw a card pack.
